You must have heard many religious folks completely misinterpret the phrase"dead to sin."
They say that we should "die to sin in our lives" in order to please and be right with God.So lets clear up that "dead to sin"verse today.

Romans 6 10 The death He(Christ) died, He died to sin once for all; but the life He lives, He lives to God.
11 IN THE SAME WAY, count yourselves dead to sin but alive to God in Christ Jesus.

This means that we are also dead to sin JUST LIKE Christ is dead to sin but did Jesus ever commit a sin???NO!!!therefore what sin is this he died to???
ENGLISH BECOMES VERY CRITICAL AT THIS STAGE

In the book of romans the word sin is used over 40 times as a Noun(naming word..which means it has nothing to do with us)and only twice as a verb, which is an action.
Noun(name place thing)
verb(action)
He died to the sin (noun) once and for all...Jesus never and did not die to the sin (verb) for he had no deeds nor action of sin in his entire life.

Jesus died to sin(noun) its power and penalty(life filled with curses, condemnation, guilt and separation from God) and punishment of sin which is(ultimately eternal damnation)

JESUS DID NOT DIE TO SIN(verb)because he never committed any sin...get it???In the same way the bible says in the next verse romans 6 11 that we just like Jesus are also dead to sin.Does that mean we will not sin any more.No.It means that even if we sin,the power it once had of condemning, cursing and separating us from God is no more.

NOTHING CAN SEPARATE A BELIEVER FROM CHRIST...NOT EVEN HIS OR HER SINS.(Romans 8 35 to 39)

It is important to note that in the new covenant texts(acts and beyond)Sin is a noun most of the time and not a verb. This is because it is not what we do..but what Christ has already done.class dismissed
