luke 22 33 during the last supper Jesus tells His disciples of His predicament and Peter says."LORD I AM READY TO GO TO PRISON WITH YOU EvEN UNTO DEATH!!!He boasted in his love for the Lord.
Jesus answered Him saying"on this night you will deny knowing me me three times before the cock crows.
After Jesus was arrested...3 times Peter rejected knowing Jesus and he remembered his promise and ran away and wept IN GUILT.
This is what willl happen to anyone who boasts of His love for the Lord.Your standards do not much up to God's standards.Isaiah 64 6 says that our righteous deeds in God's eyes are like filthy rags...we can never match up to God's standards of righteousness and the more we try, the more we will fail.
However there was a disciple who was there at Jesus feet when every other man deserted Him.On the cross John was there.John being the youngest and the SELF PROCLAIMED."DISCIPLE WHOM JESUS LOVES."proved He loved God the most. How?
Unlike Peter who boasted of his love for God...John boasted of the love Jesus had for him. This way he came to love Jesus the most.
Now you know how to Love God...Let Him love you first, accept and believe that you are the one He loves and you will always be there for Him EFFORTLESSLY.
God doesn't love you because of your good works or obedience He loves you simply because of what Jesus did for you at the cross.
1 JOHN 4 19(WE LOVE(HIM AND OTHERS) BECAUSE HE FIRST LOVED US...Therefore we must receive God's love for us first before proclaiming that we love Him.Better to say Jesus loves me than I love Jesus
Listen anyone who lives life saying "I love you Lord I will always be there when you need me...I will not disappoint you....." is actually living under the old covenant of the law which always produces strife pride and guilt.Listen it is not your love for God but His love for you that brings transformation in your life.
Don't be like Peter who boasts of His love for Jesus be like John who boasted of Jesus love for Him and when the Lord needs you...when the Peters have run away(they always do)....you(like john) will be present to serve the Lord.
Peter or John???.....the choice is yours.
